Dr. Jatta is the Chair and Founder of HMD, a global physician-led platform dedicated to advancing elite medical education, leadership, and innovation across borders. He hails from The Gambia, a beautiful nation in West Africa, where his early exposure to community health challenges shaped a lifelong commitment to service, excellence, and systems-level impact.
Driven by a desire to serve both his local community and the global medical ecosystem, Dr. Jatta pursued his medical education at the University of The Gambia, earning his degree in Medicine and Surgery after a rigorous academic and clinical training. He subsequently and briefly practiced at The Gambia’s largest teaching hospital, gaining firsthand experience in managing complex medical conditions in resource-constrained environments.
Dr. Jatta later relocated to the United States to reunite with family and pursue advanced medical training. He is currently an internal medicine residency prospect, bringing with him a strong foundation in clinical medicine, U.S. and international healthcare exposure, and a deep appreciation for evidence-based medicine. Known for his strategic mindset, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional work ethic, he combines intellectual rigor with practical execution.
Beyond clinical medicine, Dr. Jatta is deeply invested in medical education, physician leadership development, and healthcare innovation. Through HMD, he is leading a paradigm shift to empower physicians as leaders, owners, and executives by integrating medicine with business acumen, leadership training, and health informatics/AI literacy. His work reflects a conviction that the future of healthcare depends on physicians who are not only clinically excellent, but also strategically equipped to shape institutions, policy, and technology.
